HIV INFECTION VACCINE: A recent study says that the injection given twice a year to protect women from deadly AIDS or HIV infection has been 100% successful in its trials. This means that now HIV infection can be prevented through injection.
Scientists said that this injection, which is given twice a year, will help protect women from HIV infection. Let us tell you that scientists tested this injection on women and adolescents in South Africa and Uganda, which was 100 percent successful.
The medicine is 100% effective in preventing HIV infection
This injection was trialed on more than 5 thousand women in South Africa and Uganda, which was very successful. In a report published in the New England Journal, the American company Gilead, which manufactures this drug, has said that the name of the drug is lenacapavir and it has proved completely successful in its third trial.
The company has said that it is waiting for the results of the trials on men before taking permission to use this HIV drug. Let us tell you that in the study conducted to measure the success of the drug, about five thousand HIV negative women were studied. After consuming this drug, not even one of these women became a victim of HIV.
This came out in the research that lasted for 26 weeks
In this research which lasted for 26 weeks, not a single woman who took the dose of lenacapavir got infected whereas in the other group, in which women were not given this medicine, cases of infection were reported. Earlier in another study, a group of women were also given HIV prevention pills, but despite taking these pills, 2% of the women became victims of HIV. Although this medicine has not yet received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration, it is believed that it will get approval soon and through this HIV infection can be prevented.
The price of the medicine is also very low
The cost of Lenacapavir medicine is also being kept very low. The company says that soon the target has been set to bring the price of the new medicine to just forty dollars (3350 rupees). At present, the cost of a dose of Lenacapavir is about 35 lakh rupees which is very high for the common people.
It is being said that if this medicine is approved, women will be able to avoid HIV infection at a very low cost. This medicine is also being tested on men and if this result is also successful, then the world will be able to avoid the clutches of AIDS and HIV.
